THE GUILD OF COLON HYDROTHERAPISTS

The Guild of Colon Hydrotherapists
Who We Are
We are a Register of Professional Colon Hydrotherapists who meet the United Kingdom qualification criteria with regard to training and clinic standards.
The Guild is a private limited company bound by the companies acts of
1985 &1989 and is wholly owned by colonic Hydrotherapists. It is UK
oriented and unlike other colonic groups has no links, either hidden or
financial to any 'alternative medicine' groups, or foreign interests.
It was founded in 2003 by the former Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and
Treasurer of the Colonic association, as being the perceived way forward, both
to raise training standards and maintain honest representation of UK therapists
in the 21st century.
In the autumn of 2002 the then committee of the Association & Register
of Colon Hydrotherapists announced plans to establish a national college of
colon hydrotherapy, to be partially owned by the association.
This initiative was strongly opposed by members of the association who were
owners of private schools.
After a campaign of acrimonious opposition by those owners, and a handful of
former committee members the plans were rejected by the members of the association
at a general meeting in June 2003.
It is the Guild's objective is to be the lead body in colon hydrotherapy.
All therapists who are members of the guild are allocated one free, one pound
share in the company for as long as they remain members, and may purchase other
shares if they so wish. The board of directors must approve all shareholders.
The members (shareholders) appoint a board of directors.
Non therapists, (Lay Members) may be appointed as directors.
A management committee appointed by the board of directors administers the
guild.
The current board of directors are,
Chairman, Margaret Ann Lund.
Margaret Lund is a long established colon hydrotherapy practitioner, having
trained in both the USA and England.
She served three terms as Chairman of the UK based former Colonic International
Association. During her leadership she set new targets of education and training
in colonic hydrotherapy and led the association towards a more modern image,
including its name change to the Association & Register of Colon Hydrotherapists.
Other Directors, Richard Wheeler, David Newman, Shirley Jay Lambert.
Richard Wheeler trained in colonic hydrotherapy in the mid 1960s, at the world
famous Champneys Nature Cure Resort. He trained under the supervision of
the late Peter Lief, son of Stanley Lief, the founder of Champneys.
After spending some time in industry in various administrative capacities he
joined the former Colonic International Association in 1995. He spent 5 years
as secretary of the association during which time he introduced a formal continual
professional development programme, and wrote new, more exacting standards
of conformance for colon hydrotherapy teaching schools.
After semi-retiring from therapy practice he now concentrates on therapy equipment
design and the administration of the Guild. He wrote the first audit trail
for colon hydrotherapy colleges in the UK.
His association with colon hydrotherapy goes back almost 35 years.
David Newman joined the former Colonic International Association in 1995.
He was the vice-chairman of the association for four years and vigorously supported
moves to improve training standards.
He is the author of the successful book about colon hydrotherapy entitled 'Flushed
with Success' and operates a clinic in Gloucester.
He is also the principal of the British College of Colon Hydrotherapy.
Shirley Jay Lambert joined the former Colonic International Association
in 1991.
A former nurse, she has served several terms as treasurer of the Association
and is a fierce proponent of improvements to both training and treatment room
standards.
She operates a successful colonic hydrotherapy clinic in Sheffield.
